Method

Step 1: Season and Sear the Chicken
  1. Pat the chicken breasts dry with a paper towel and season both sides with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown (it doesn’t have to be fully cooked yet). Remove from the pan and set aside.
Step 2: Sauté the Aromatics
  1. In the same pan, melt butter and add the onion. Cook until softened (about 3 minutes).
  2. Stir in the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
Step 3: Cook the Basmati Rice
  1. Add rinsed basmati rice to the skillet and stir for 1 minute to toast slightly.
  2. Pour in chicken broth, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
Step 4: Make the Creamy Herb Sauce
  1. Pour in the heavy cream and stir well.
  2. Add thyme, rosemary, oregano, and Parmesan cheese. Stir until the cheese is melted into the sauce.
Step 5: Simmer & Cook Everything Together
  1. Nestle the seared chicken back into the pan, making sure it’s partially submerged in the sauce and rice.
  2. Cover with a lid and reduce heat to low. Let simmer for 20 minutes, or until the rice is fully cooked and the chicken reaches an internal temp of 165°F (75°C).
Step 6: Serve & Garnish
  1. Remove from heat and let the dish rest for 5 minutes.
  2. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and lemon zest for a bright, fresh finish.
  3. Serve warm and enjoy the creamy, herby deliciousness!

  1. Can you confirm ingredients? There is chicken broth twice – once a half cup for sauce and again 2 cups for rice, but it’s only being added once.

I was wondering the same thing! I made it tonight and left out the unknown chicken broth amount as it simmered and checked it during cooking. I did end up adding it as it was not enough liquid. So definitely add that chicken broth as well:)

This was so good and so easy for a busy night! Even my pickiest eater went back for seconds! I will say that if you add the cheese in, as directed,.you need to babysit it to make sure it doesnt burn. I think I’ll wait and add it at the end, next time. Other than that, it was really good and is added to our rotation!

This was really delicious! I used chicken thighs and only needed the 2 cups of broth (not sure where the extra 1/2 cup was supposed to be utilized). Make sure to use grated (think the jar with the green top) and not shredded. I’m going to guess this recipe has been pulled from another website and the coding has things kind of discombobulated.
