Method
Step 1 — Preheat & Prepare Your Baking Sheet
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2 — Cream the Butter & Powdered Sugar
- Add softened butter and powdered sugar to a mixing bowl.
- Beat until creamy, fluffy, and smooth.
- This step gives snowball cookies their soft and melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Step 3 — Add Vanilla
- Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Combine until evenly blended and fragrant.
Step 4 — Add Dry Ingredients
- Add flour and salt to the bowl.
- Mix gently until a soft dough begins to form.
- Do not overmix.
Step 5 — Add Mini Chocolate Chips
- Fold in the mini chocolate chips until evenly spread.
Step 6 — Add Nuts (Optional)
- Mix in chopped nuts if using.
- Nuts add crunch, but the cookies are delicious with or without them.
Step 7 — Shape the Cookies
- Scoop out 1 tablespoon of dough.
- Roll into smooth balls with your hands.
- Place on the baking sheet—they won’t spread much.
Step 8 — Bake
- Bake for 12–14 minutes.
- The tops should stay pale, and bottoms lightly golden.
- Do not overbake to maintain softness.
Step 9 — First Powdered Sugar Coating
- Let cookies cool for 2 minutes on the baking sheet.
- While warm, roll each cookie in powdered sugar.
- Place on a cooling rack.
Step 10 — Final Snowy Coat
- Once cooled, roll each cookie again
- for the perfect snowy finish.
